I have seen alot of asphalt sidewalk and driveways around my city where they are putting on what appears to be a concrete dust on top of the asphalt after they have applied it. Is that what it is (dry cement mix) and does this help seal it? :canadaflag:

no its not cement mix, if it is on concrete it may be the release agent if its going to be stamped,

It is actually asphalt over concrete.......

When a city concrete sidewalk has sunk, they come by and place a top coat of asphalt on top to bring it back up to level, and after they are done they come by a day later and "dust" and sweep on what appears to be a dry mix of cement etc over the top of the asphalt.

also to quicken the drying time of certain mixes some people sprinkle portland cement ontop of the asphalt to harden it faster....not that i recommend it,i,ve just seen it a few times
