Trying my best here to do things right but am getting confused. I understand I charge customers tax on labor, but what do I do about marking up materials? If I buy bulk mulch for 15.00 per yard, I now charge a customer say 35.00 per yard. Is this considered reselling where I dont pay the initial tax from the 15.00 per yard, charge the tax on the 35.00 per yard and send that to the state? Is that how the resale cert. is used? Supppose I rent a dumpster but charge the cust more, does it work the same? When you guys give estimates do you figure out the tax ahead for the customer to see? any help would be appreciated.
