There are other threads on this, but the short answer is don't make them sign a "contract" A service agreement somehow is more acceptable. I require my clients to sign a service agreement that states that they will remain a weekly customer until they give me two weeks notice.

We originally started out wanting all customers to sign a contract with us. For many reasons, we decided to require contracts only for residential accounts over $150 a month and all the commerical accounts. We usually give our new customers a copy of our "service agreement" with the blanks filled in, but we don't expect them to sign it for the smaller accounts. It usually gets mailed to them with their first billing.
