I have a small, 5x8 enclosed trailer (I already know it's too small, I also have a 5x10 open utility, long story). More to the point, I'm looking at converting the rear door on the enclosed trailer to a ramp door. Has anyone ever done it? I've found some hardware on the net and taken a look at ramp doors on new trailers at the big box store. I think I could add 7/16 CDX to the existing 3/8 ply, add black metal angle iron edge reinforcement, swap the existing hinges for another latch and try and find a garage door type spring for the ramp.

I don't really know if there are other structural differences though. Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

I have seen people take enclosed trailers and put mesh fold down gates, same as an open trailer on, but thats about it. i know it can be done though with a regular fold down ramp gate.
