Where did this guideline come from...?

I've read it in passing several times here on LS.

It comes from the Scotts Turfbuilder plus Halts bag. They suggest applying between the 2nd and fifth mowing. Of course they are in Ohio...bad advice in the south.
Scotts trains some of the garden and hardware store people. Seminars, Powerpoint.

Of course, if it takes 5 weeks to complete all your first applications, you better plan ahead.

Makes perfect sense. Thanks for the input.

Scott's products are very popular with my aeration only clients for some reason.

I need to read up on exactly what those labels are saying. This way I can help them avoid application errors etc and maybe transition them over to my program instead. :D

It also comes from the WI Extension Horticulture Offices,,, only they go for the calendar date of Late May/Early June, depending on which pub. you read, dated when...

Reading Scotts Labels is the One thing that perpetuates the "One Size Fits All" Wannabee Mentality... Rember Scotts Labels Defined the Pre-M ""BARRIER"" foolishness and I bet it is still alive and well out there... :)
