About the date of the second mowing--if you have cool season grass like blue, rye or tall fescue.
Or my second rule is BEFORE air temp hits 80...say when it first hits 70.
If you are measuring soil temperature--before it hits 55 at the 1-inch depth.
Or perhaps about the date of the last frost.
According to this data...before April 11 (the last frost date)in Baltimore.
That is an average date--each year will vary.

I am a homeowner on the eastern shore of MD. I only have one yard to take of so I can afford to wait but I normally shoot for sometime around April 15th. This schedule has not given me any problems. If the spring is warmer than normal I will go earlier.
