Not ever owning a Craftsman 21" mower I was curious as to what their issues are seeing 50% of used mowers for sale are Craftsman. Probably more then 50% to be honest from my experience.
I see some with the "Honda" engine available but most not.

They have bad drive systems, decks, construction ?

I had one years ago. Never had any engine troubles with it, but the trannys they put in those things are complete garbage. It constantly had problems. Mine was front wheel drive, only had one speed, and extremely slow.

Was just curious to the ridiculous amount of them you see for sale.
Craigslist is 75% Craftsman for sale, used to next to new.
Just by those amounts for sale, people must buy a ton of them.

Use Honda, Toro, Lawn Boy myself.

The drive system works by actually powering the splines in the plastic wheels. Steel drive gear + plastic wheel splines = FAIL. It usually takes a week or two for the drive system to start jerking. That means it's time for new wheels ($10/ea).
