How does a mtl compare to ctl in deep mud? The tracks on a mtl are not as aggressive but seem like they would float better?

I've owned both and there is not any difference in the mud.

Yep, I've been working in some slop and didn't notice a big difference between my rc100 and the 289d demo.

The rc100 might have had a little bit better traction pushing into piles while working in the mud. Mtl's are low disturbance machines. I like mine when doing retention pond maintenance and the bottoms are deceptively spongy.

Track pattern makes a difference. The camoplast on my TL140 are night and day above the stock tracks in mud.

The real question maybe which undercarriage would you rather have to clean out. I think that one goes to the CTL.

To be fair, the newer open style mtl undercarriages are much easier to clean than the old carrier type.

Had them both, CTL is easier, except anyone using the same style as Bobcat's undercarriage. Cat, Deere, Takeuchi and Kubota, much much easier.

The MTL floats on top where the CTL wallows like a pig, therefore they have to be easy to clean a CTL.
