Hello all, I have recently bought another push mower. This is the first push mower I have owned that uses a cutter bar bolted direct to the crank (with swinging blades). Verse the disc arrangement with swinging blades I'm more familiar with. I have been told (by the bloke down the road) that the cutter bar arrangement is supposedly very prone to bending crankshafts when hitting obstacles, like tree roots ect. Where I use this mower the grass is tall & obstacles common, since owning it I have hit several obstacles hard enough to completely stall the engine from full throttle. No sign of any issues at all have resulted from this so far. What I'm wondering is if this is more of a urban legend type thing or is it a validated complaint I should be wary of ? Engine - 5.5hp Quantum Briggs & Stratton Cut - 21" Thanks for your time.
