I'm suggesting it to my clients now - In the Atlanta area, what's the target time to cut off irrigation?

Common or hybrid? It's also going to depend on your area's climate. Here we're still watering it but cutting back as the nights are cooling down. Growth is still there but it's slowed down.

You might check with your city, county or ag extension program. In the interest of water conservation they usually have a precipitation chart for your area showing the generalized water requirements for both warm season and cool season grasses but specifically geared for your area.

As long as we are still in this drought and the daytime temps are in the mid 80's I would not turn off the irrigation.
