Oh cool, I never realized they were that large, all they do around here is arborist type work, as far as my understanding goes.

Ya that's the major portion of the work Davey does I believe. There are two different type of Davey branches, the tree expert branches and the commercial grounds management branches. The cgm branches do all the property maintenance and landscape installation while the tree expert branches do just tree work.

Makes sense, so on an average day, what do you do? When you start? How do your lunch or breaks work? I'm just curious to know how large corporations function.

Well foremans start at 6:30 a.m. and laborers start at 6:45 a.m. We load our 2 cycle equipment into the trucks/trailers first, then at 7 a.m. we have a group stretch lol. Then we get whatever else we need and roll out.

We are required to take a thirty minute unpaid lunch usually between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. depending on where we are at in the day. Our branch is trying to reduce overtime by working only four 10 hours days (mon-thurs) so we usually have a three day weekend.

Once a week we also take all the mowers and change/sharpen blades, grease any necessary grease points, and wash them off. A lot more responsibility falls on the foremans, they run their one crew and have to do things like fill out service reports for each property, do mileage/service reports on the trucks daily, and usually they are the only ones spraying weeds.

They also enforce safety very much, like even doing something like spring clean ups edging and raking beds we have to wear safety glasses and we always wear safety vests.

Ya our branch is very well organized, they made a few changes from last season as far as workers and they brought in a new supervisor for all the maintenance crews, he's doing a great job so far.

Ya I do I plan on making a career out of working for Davey they are already giving me free education like books regarding tree and plant identification and really detailed stuff to help further my knowledge in this field. They have great benefits and stock options once you are considered a full time employee, plus they are an employee owned company!

Alright, sounds good to me! It would be nice to have no hassles of owning a business for sure, but still be able to learn and do work you love.
