I just had an oil leak repaired on my 03 Walker. The motor has a 2 year warranty. The dealer tells me I have to pay him and then he submits the invoice to Kohler and when (if) Kohler pays him, they will pay me back. Does this sound normal?

    I'm a little pissed off about it. It's $440.00

    Shoulda bought an Exmark!

    Just kidding!

I think warranty work on motors is a little different but I've never had to deal with it.
    Good luck.

    NO!
You should never have to pay up front for warranty work, unless its a goodwill, and has to be submitted for reimbursement.(ie:just out of warranty)

I'd let him know that I would be looking another dealer.

It's sounds like you are getting boned here. Is motor work covered on your warranty? If so, it sounds like b.s. to me and I would not pay. It sounds to me like your dealer has major problems with this company or something and doesn't figure on getting reimbursed by the company.

Most motors have a warranty that is seperate from the rest of the machine.

Motors are bought off the shelf by most manufacturers.

Are you sure the warranty is still on? 03' this is (could) be the start of the 3 year.

Call Walker and ask them if that is normal procedure. If not then let them know what their dealer is doing.
