Hi Guys I am new to the business and I am getting ready to purchase some equipment. Can anyone tell a good deck size to look for in a walk behind and or zero turn

The 42" seems to be the compromise on this site. Large enough for the bigger yards and small enough to fit through the majority of the gates that a 44-48" can not.

I would go with a 36" walk behind, especially if you are going to be getting a Z in the future. Wish I would have done that when I started. I bought a 48" WB, and after I got my Z, it gets no use at all. Still had to go out and get a 36".

Don't get a machine bigger than what you need for small gates...the 36" is probably a good choice.

A 36 can go about anywhere and will still come in handy when you get a big 66" ZTR. Most of our lawns are about 5-7,000, a few are 20-40,000, our 36 comes off the trailer at every stop.
