Deducting books

    Does anyone know what the law is about deducting plant books as a sole proprietor?

    I record, for tax purposes any and all things related to the business as far as purchases and travel go.

    Yes it is a deduction as educational needed for business.

    Thanks. I just wanted to make sure it was a full deduction. I am going to deduct 95%. I might need them for my yard. :)

    No need to pro-rate 5% for personal use. As long as it is related to your field, it is 100% deductable, even if some of the knowledge can be used for personal gain.

    I already wrote myself a check for 95%. I paid for the books out of the personal account originally. I have cash payup . I want to have things cleared in the sad looking business account before 2006 arrives, which they are.
