Internet searches for this company don't turn up much, which is suspect. I found that they were just recently incorporated (March 2011) in Ohio, but online the contact address & ph numbers are in PA. The principal director is Justin Dean of Ravenna, OH and another is Michael Pucci of Cogan Station, PA.

If you "Google" Justin Dean, Ravenna, you will get hits about him having a recent criminal record, unrelated to business, but I will leave it up to you to research. The address given matches the address of the company.

In PA we have to collect sales tax on lawn mowing. I asked them about this, because there's nothing in their contract about it. The jobs don't pay well enough to have to "eat" the sales tax too. They replied, saying that it is in their contract that subcontractors are responsible for all taxes, and they cited a few paragraphs. The paragraphs only talk about income tax related stuff, not sales tax.

They also stated that subcontractors can't charge contractors sales tax. I said that's fine if they provide me with a PA tax exempt number. Then they said the properties are HUD so that's probably why they're tax exempt. I again said fine, but they still have to provide a tax exempt number. They said they'd forward this to their tax attorney or someone in accounting for comment.

That was Tuesday morning. I'm guessing that I won't get a reply. If I do, I'll post it here.

There've also been ads around here for "Nexstar Group LLC" seeking lawn contractors. I asked them to send me the information mentioned in their ad. I mentioned sales tax, which probably scared them off. They didn't reply at all.

Thanks for the info! I decided to not go with the company mainly because the pay was not that good. They were only paying $25 for a 1/2 acre bi weekly. They also just seemed shady in general.
