Diazinon gets the axe. What alternatives?

  1. So now that Diazinon is to be phased out of use (accept Ag use) http://www.ortho.com/alert-diazinon.cfm what next? I currently use to control chinch in the St. Augustine. Any alternatives? This is bad news until Scotts get a replacement.

That is bad news about Diazinon. Oftanol, Triumph and Sevin can all be used to control chinch bugs. Check the label to see if their safe for St. Augustine. Check some university sites for more info.

You might check the lable on Delta Gard and Talstar. Lesco sell them As a combo with fert and as astraight insecticide. I used the Delta gard last year replacing Dursban and had fantasic results without the traditional odor associated with Dursban. I'm not sure about St Auggie grass the warm turf I deal with Zoysia and Bermuda.
