I don't know if I told you guys about the Lazer that I bought....but if I didn't, I will now. I bought a Lazer (the guy wasn't sure what year it was), it is a 60'' Lazer with the 25hp Kohler engine which has 2050 hours on it. It just got a tune up which cost almost $600 and I paid the guy $3000 for the mower plus the tune-up bill which came to a total of $3600 that I paid for it. The tune-up replaced the hydro oil, filters, checked everything over to make sure everything was running ok. There is a problem with the deck because you need to grind part of one of the sides of the blades down or else they will make contact. The mower is probably atleast 10 years old I can get a picture for you guys when I get home

What I am asking is, do you think I got a good deal? I have the opportunity to get my money back but I don't know what to do. I see some of the deals that you guys get on here and I start to think that I didn't get the best deal. Tell me what you guys think. Thanks..

I think you paid too much. I don't know that I would have given more than $2,000 for it.

Your Lazer Z should prove to be a good mower, but you may have paid to much. The used market in mid TN is kind of flat, but you would still be lucky to get $2500 for a ZTR w/ 2500hrs. In 8/05 I sold a 2003 Exmark 26EFI/60 w/ 1500 hrs. for $4000.00 (pd. 10 K for it new) and it was in good shape. If you keep it the 1st thing you should do is get a Kholer canister air filter set up. It is easy to swap out and cost about $200. Keep an eye on your oil level daily.
    Good luck - BILL

So you guys think I should stick with this mower or should I give it up for exactly what I paid for it, the guy is willing to take it back since he now has more room in his garage again.

I think what I'm going to do is search around to see if there are any good deals near my location and if I can't find anything I'll just keep it.

mulchandmow, where can I find that canister air filter set up that you were talking about?

Cosmo-You should'nt have to grind the blades down to avoid deck contact. You either have the wrong blades installed, or there is a bad spindle or spindle spacer causing the blade to list back and forth, making contact with the deck. Put some pics of this mower up here for review.

And why did you pay $600.00 for an oil change and fluid change, in addition to the $3K for the mower??

If the guy will take it back, I would run to his house and give it back...there are better deals out there if you wait, especially this time of the year.

I sell my Lazers when they get around 5 or 6 hundred hours. I would never buy anything with that many hours on it, but everybody's circumstances are different. While I sell my used machines for more than you paid the difference in condition is non comparable.

Any dealer who sells Kholer equip. can get you one. Mower breathes better and filter replacement is less frequent.
