    Good observation --- this could explain why we lost an American elm about 8 years ago. It was about 15 feet to the right of the driveway. Trunk was 5 1/2 feet across...it was HUGE, and it was beautiful.

    No doubt. Anybody hear if they saved that Live Oak at the University of Texas? I know some at the Alamo that are 300 - 400 years old.

    we plan on planting a bit at our shops property. about 5 1/2 acres of it is completely open.

    Just haven't figured out what we are going to plant yet. Got an idea if we are able to purchase an adjoining acre and a half what we will plant there.

    I wil post some pics later of the few nice size trees we have at the property.

    They do not look in to good of shape though.
