    ==============
    1* small drainage ditch about 16'' wide
    2*Around 3 sides of my yard
    3*a-to make it easier to mow along both sides of it
    b-to prevent or reduce grass and weed growth in and along the ditch.
    c-to back fill against and smooth out and level out the edges along the ditch.
    d-to eliminate or reduce using a string trimmer along the edges of the ditch

    Was thinking of using either 30 or 55 Gallon plastic drums cut in half from top to bottom. Think that would work?

    Well here in Indiana,I have seen all types of ditching.
    Our favorite system is to line ditch with contractors cloth
    then top coat with rip raf stone ,like you see along Interstate.
    keeps weeds down,also helps erosion and drainage.
    I hope this helps
