its not worth it, just go buy some from your dealer, i first bought the 75.00 one from lowes, then built one, both beat the crap out of my trimmers and took forever to load and unload. Unless you can gel coat the rack to protect you equipment they dont work.

I have been successful building my own trimmer rack. Purchase a 2x4 and saw it in half. These serve as the arms of your rack. Purchase eyelet screws to rest/lock your equipment to, and use 2 bolts per arm(2x4) to bolt to your trailer. I had to drill holes in my trailer rail, but the rack has worked wonderfully. make sure there are no stress cracks in the wood, and if you're worried about the wood snapping, just get a 2x6 instead.

Dont laugh, I built this rack last year when I first started. It has held up flawlessly through these last two seasons. I have a friend that owns a big farm ,we built it in the shop. We used two pieces of 'C' channel for the uprights, welded to a piece of angle iron on the bottom to mount to the trailer. We used lengths of rebar to hold the trimmer shafts (sheilded with a length of fuel line and duct tape) and mounted ATV gun racks onto angle iron to attach to the uprights. They dont lock, but they havent damaged the trimmers and the trimmers dont roll around either. I'm not sure they are DOT approved, but they work good, and all they cost me was a pair of ATV gun racks I robbed off my old ATV I was selling.

These are mine. to create a pad on the shaft perch i just cut an old towel and put it in the slot, then had some carpet left over from the build of a subwoofer box, and put that on there... and the shaft holds in those crates and if im going somewhere bumpy ill bungee cord the motor down.. but it was free (had the shelf parts laying in my garage) Im sure ill buy a trimmer rack later, but i just purchased this enclosed trailer for my part time lawn care business, so it works for me.
