I searched all the sale tax threads and looked at the TN govt. site but could not clearly ascertain if I must charge sales tax on lawn mowing, pruning, landscape installation, etc. in the Nashville, TN area. Any insight on this would be appreciated.

I am not an lco, but I am planning to open a business in March. In preparing to do so, I contacted the TN dept. of Revenue to ask about sales tax. I was told that lawn care is a service, and therefore not taxable. If you sell items, however, it is taxable. So, if you sell a customer a tree outright, you must charge tax. If, however, you plant the tree, it is a service and you do not charge tax. At least, this is how I understood what they told me. If I'm wrong, someone correct me, please.

You might contact the dept. of revenue yourself for a more detailed answer or more info.

    Hope that helps.
