I just started a small company in CT. I have a handfull of account that im just mowing and trimming.
contact your local contractors association. They will help you with all of the local laws, plus you will have a good opportunity to network.
A business license in my state is $30 plus $30 for every employee. It is just a tax... another way for Uncle Sam to get into your pocket book. You might have to have one to get a business account a bank... other than that it really is useless. Once you get one... you have to renew it every year or they will penalize you.
