Do what the customer wants, regardless?

Today I had a guy call asking if I could give him an estimate to dethatch his yard. I said I'm actually done dethatching because I don't want to rip up all the dirt and green grass, so I suggested aeration and he said thanks and that he'd call someone else. I now think that I should have done it. What would you have done?

Just curious how you all charge for De-thatching, by sq ft, by time, by difficulty? Also have you ever had a customer just want you to De-thatch and not clean up? I have last week it was the easiest money i think i made.:waving:

Depends, if you had to rent the dethatcher just for that one job, nah, pass on it. But if you own a dethatcher, and you have time on your schedule to fill, then sure. Besides, you can't tell on the phone if it actually needs dethatched and what condition his lawn was in. His lawn could have been in bad shape.
