I use metal swing tine type now and am wondering if there is a better way.
If you are going to do this i would use something with knives (like bluebird). It is very destructive on turf and generally un-needed. Aeration benifets the turf in many ways, among them helping to reduce thatch. Thatch can be controlled with proper fertilization, mowing, watering.
