I was thinking today about mounting a small vise on my truck somewhere or just welding one right to the trailer.. I figure it would come in handy especially if a blade needs a bit of fileing in the field. Anyone have one on their rig? Do you use it much?

I mounted one right on my tool box on my trailer. I use it daily and love it.

Not one that it was my grandfather's vise. He's been gone since 1991 but I still smile when I use his vise. I think he would smile too.

I was always going to mount one on the rear bumper of my 1 ton (piece of 10 or 12" channel) but I never have.

If you keep a 6 or 8 inch C clamp in your tool box you can make a quick vise for sharpening by clamping the blade to the top rail of the trailor or the landscape body. I used this method for many years before I got a shop vice but they are still handy in the field.
