Does anyone have a plan for a spring loaded ramp gate for their trailer? Or does that EZ gate that is advertised in the Lawn and Lands. mag. work well? Any info would be very appreciative! Thanks!

The EZ GATE works as great. You have to keep in mind the safety aspects of the design of the EZ GATE as well. The spring is enclosed in the PVC pipe so no one can get pinched by the spring. If the spring would brake the spring should stay inside the PVC pipe. You could make one yourself but by the time you by the parts and include the layout designed plus labor the cost come out the same.
The EZ GATE has two 1/2" holes and six 5/16 holes to drill and thatÂ’s it. It comes pre assembled and you can paint the pvc to match your trailer. If your side rails are higher than 15" it would take a special order but the cost is still the same. You can go to my site at http://mowerparts.safeshopper.com/ to check it out. I put one on my trailer and it work so well now I became the distributor for the EZ GATE in my area.

----------
http://mowerparts.hypermart.net
I BUILT A RAMP AND I USED 2 RECOIL SPRINGS ON THE PIVOT ROD AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RAMP. IT SEEMS TO WORK VERY WELL. I CAN CLOSE IT WITH 1 HAND. THE SIZE OF THE RAMP IS 6' LONG AND 5' WIDE.

The springs used on Fisher minute mount plows would work great, the one that goes between the head gear and a frame, two per ramp, they look like large clothes pin springs and run around ten bucks at the dealer apiece.
Bill
