I just ordered a 20 yards of topsoil for a job. When it showed up, it looked like a mix of 15 tards topsoil, 5 yards sand. It looked like dyed gravel. This is getting to be the norm out this way. Is this something I should expect for the future?

I think it's more just knowing your supplier. The local guys that I get topsoil from are honest with me about the quality that they have when I call, as it changes almost monthly. They are medium sized construction/excavation companies, and depending on what job they're working on that month, the topsoil can change sometimes dramatically.
