im not in the dump business, but i am a truck driver. around here it always by the hour. 75-80 for a semi, 60-65 for 6 wheeler. and thats including travel time...from the time you leave the yard til you get back. and today on trip took me an hour and 45 minutes to go 30 miles...see why we charge by the hour?

I don't know what size of dump your operating but for my 1.5 ton truck its 50 dollars per hour a single axle 5 ton dump (35,000lb gvw truck) is 70 per hour and a tandem axle dump (15 ton payload) is 80 dollars per hour.

The only people that charge by the mile is long haul guys that rack up the miles a dump truck being short haul you spend more time waiting etc you got to charge by the hour. If the truck makes one trip to a customer and it takes 30 mins they get charged for minimum 1 hour maybe longer.

Yes thats Canadian dollars but you also have to remember our diesel fuel is 3.56 to 3.90 US funds US gallon. I wouldn't charge any less than 50 dollars per hour for my F-450. You look at Michelin tires for my truck in the 235/85R16 size is 230-250 dollars each. The fuel filters are 40 dollars the oil filters are 30 dollars.
