Does anyone know of any do's and don'ts on mulching in March for Southern Ohio? I have heard lately that you should not mulch until the ground stays warm, never heard that before, but they say they have found it on the internet of course. I know alot of companies are done in Cincinnati with mulching. What is the rule of thumb for this? Thanks

muxx: I'm in northern Ohio and we are usually about two weeks behind you in warming. I'm a firm believer in holding off on mulching until the ground warms. To me it is senseless to mulch early which just preserves the cold in the soil.
The early guys do it because they are mowers who have no other time to mulch than to do it before the grass starts growing. I didn't learn that on the internet; it just makes horticultural sense.
