I am in the start up phase, buying equipment and getting legal and all that. I would like to save some cash at first and buy used mowers. I have looked at ebay and want to know if anyone knows how much stolen equipment is filtered through there. If I do purchase a mower on there, how can I know its not stolen? Should I request the serial #'s before the auction end and check them somewhere? Thanks in advance!

Probably allot of stolen equipment gets sold on ebay, But I have to ask you this does it really matter? Ebay is a legal source to purchase things, you use credit cards paypal and check books. you have the name and address of sellers when you complete a sale. If it is prosecution you are afraid of forget about it. you can't be prosecuted when you purchase from ebay in good faith.

I have bought equipment off of ebay many of times. They can't come back on you, but they can come back on the seller if anything does happen. You did not know if something is stolen if you buy it anyway.

ok, I just wanted to make sure. I dont want gain from someone elses misfortune, so just wanted to find out if I could check to see if equipment was, in fact, stolen. Im just a cheap azz and ebay has cheap equipment.
