Can anyone please tell me how to install new line on my trimmer, or even just point me to a good site with comprehensive pix/instructions. I know it can't be too hard, but I have never done it before, and I never saw it while it was installed. A neighbor gave us his old trimmer before he moved, and I have no clue what to do.

Hold the trimmer head stationary. Grab the bump head and turn it clock wise. It should just pop off. To put it back on, line up the grooves on the bump head with the small posts and turn counter clock wise until it snaps back into place.

I did try echo's website-- that was the very first thing I did, in fact. OK, so now I have the bump head off, but I don't know how to actually put the line on. I know it sounds like a ridiculous question, but I'm an actress, not a lawn care specialist, so specifics would be sooo appreciated. Sorry! (Really, I'm not as dumb as I seem... I think....)

Take your line and pull out the amount you think will fill the spool
    Next,cut the line.
Now thread the line through the eyelet on the hub of your trimmer spool.Run it all the way through until you have equal amounts hanging down.
Next, put your index finger inbetween the line, right where it is looped through the eyelet.Hold the two sections of line apart with your thumb and middle finger, like you're going to run your index finger down the middle of the two lines.
Now,start wrapping the line in the opposite direction the trimmer spool runs while trimming.Keep the lines seperate while doing this,by sliding your fingers along the line.(This will keep it from binding)
When you fill the spool, place the line ends into the slots on the outside of the trimmer spool(to hold them in place).
Now,gently put the head cover over the spool while pushing the line ends through the head eyelet.
When you have them through, push the head cover down and pull the line through while installing the head cover.
    Wallah!you're done.

The instructions for loading your trimmer's line are on the Echo website. They are in Acrobat PDF format and can be downloaded to your computer's hard disk or can be printed out. See the URL below; when it comes up click on the item marked "Installation Instructions Nylon Line". You can also get the entire instruction manual for your trimmer on the same site. (You may have to copy the URL manually because it may not go automatically due to line wrap). Good luck.

    Booberrypatch:

Sorry but the URL in my previous message probably won't work. This one should work, at least it did when I tested it.

When it comes up enter the model number for your trimmer in the box and it should take you to a list of all the instructions, parts list and manuals for your machine. Among them is "Installation Instructions Nylon Line". Sorry about the blind lead on the previous entry. Good luck
