I know there is a difference in the styles of these two 21.2cc trimmers, but i was wondering why echo made the 2100 series and the 210 series. Is one cheaper then the other? Is the 2100 series a HD product made for them by Echo? I have the SRM210 that i bought off a local dealer and i just got one from a garage sale at a great price. I thought i was buying the 210 and when i really checked it out it was a 2100. Any thoughts?

The 2100 is an older model not made anymore, replaced by the 210. I have a 2100 that I purchased in 1999, can't get most parts for it anymore from my local dealer

Actually the 2100 is a pretty good unit...not heavy duty but a pretty fair starter trimmer that is light weight.

It's no wonder dealers.....like car dealers get bad names. The is out right rediculous that parts aren't available. Of course they are!!!!! Your dealer is lying to you.

The SRM2100 is now call the 210, and has been for a few years. Just like the GT2000 curve shaft is the GT200, and PB2000 blower is the PB200.

Honestly, the only real thing that has changed is the engine design to keep up with emissions. Otherwise, most everything from the starters, clutches, driveshafts, cables........are all the same.

Email me your model and serial number and what you need. I guarantee you I can produce parts for you.

Interesting about the parts thing, I should have known better. They also told me they could not get air filters for them anymore, but when I bought my PE-200 Edger, it had the exact same air filter. I never had a chance to bring it to the dealers attention because I have not been back since. I have a dealer that is moving practically next door to my house that carries Sthil, and I think I am going to buy Sthil products from now on. It will be nice having a dealer so close, and these guys seem to have their act together, real professional, good prices, ect.

my first 2100 lasted 7 comm yrs and was used when i got it. my second one is still going strong -i gave it to my neighbor who does my lawn (3/4 acre and bahia!) in exchange for me keeping his equiptment working.

i have the 210, i got it a couple years ago when i started lawncare. the thing has been through some hell and it still starts on the first or second pull and is still part of my trimmer lineup. its a little weak though when it comes to thick weeds, but it does the job and is still kickin after hundreds of hours.

Hey thanks guys for the replies. I guess i got a good deal on the trimmer then. I paid 25.00 for it and it looks and runs like new. I have already given it a test drive and it seems lighter then my 210. The 210 looks to be built a little better, but for what i'm using it for it will be just fine. I think i will put the .080 string in it to see if i can give it that little extra whip for cleaner lines down the walks. I do no heavey brush cutting, so the power isn't all that important.

    Thanks again Rick
