I'm looking at a project and find the edge restraint specs interesting. They read "Snap in place restraint, 1/8 inch thick x 2 1/2 inches deep with 12 inch stakes 4 foot on center, color: black."

Not one part of that makes sense nor can i find an edging that meets these specs.

Any thoughts on an edging that can meet this?

Sounds like typical snap edge. Call the engineer maybe and ask.

I thought snap-edge too, because that's what we use, but it's less than 2" in ht. and the spikes are 8 or 10". They also have only a 4" base on the details and it doesn't extend past the pavers. It's a gov't project, army corp., so maybe I'm just annoyed that tax money is used for something that isn't up to standards.

    Just use SnapEdge.

I've never seen 8" spikes. And would never use 8" spikes.

We space our spikes 1' apart.

4" is an acceptable base. Nothing at all wrong with that. Last I was aware 4" is min for ICPI.

As far as a shoulder, install a shoulder and don't worry bout it.

If you have any concerns - call the engineer. I do.

That's what I plan to do.

They sell them and if you look at the SnapEdge detail it shows both. Does 2" make that much of a difference? I use the 10" as well.

I've never used a 4" base even on a residential walk. I don't think 4" is enough in our area.

I'm more venting than anything, but i'll spell out on our bid what we are doing.

    Thanks for playing.
