Do edger blades normally wear out quickly. The original blade on my edger went very fast. I bought what my local dealer stocks for Stihl. Are aftermarket blades better or worse??

I have the thicker stihl blades for my 110 and they take longer to go bad usually after the first few edges of the year it takes longer for them to ware out do to not cutting through as much dirt and turf.

I have two edgers and they get changed weekly. One usually gets changed about every 4 days but with no rain for months getting spoiled here. It sprinkled the other day and the mowers took off for cover. Seen a cpl of fish drown from the rain too.

I probably change my edger blades on average of once per day, maybe every other day from time to time.

    Sucks to be you.
I change mine once per week in the spring and around once per month in the summer.

On large jobs, we will go through a blade about every half hour.

We use star edger blades, instead of the regular type.

What type of edger do you have to run the star blade? Does it require a lot more power?

Not really. I'm only paying about .59 a blade. What's everyone else pay?
