I read in another post that they charge .85 per linear foot for edging. I went out to do an estimate and measures this potential customers sidewalk and driveway and it came out to be 400 ft. and his property is less than 1/2 acre.

If i do the math right (400 X .85), then that is $340!!!! The edging with a gas powered edger would only take about 20 minutes. $340 seems WAYYYY HIGH!!!!!!! Am i doing something wrong???

    Thank you for your advice.

You are beleiving everything you hear, thats your problem. Some things on here are a fantasy, you have to figure out which ones.

The prices for edging that you are referring to are for bed edging not edging along concrete surfaces with a stick edger. These are two intirely different beasts

If its 400 feet and has not been edged in a while after clean up there's no way your gettting out of their in 20 min.. If you keep up on it say every 2-4 weeks maybe 20 min.. If they are a weekly account and they want you to do it bi weekly see if u can get a extra $25..

Are you just edging his walkway and drive or are you mowing his lawn too. if you're mowing the lawn just add it in at no charge once every 2 weeks. If you're just doing the edging and it's only going to take 20 min I'd say $35.00

trimming and edging should be built into your pricing structure, there should be no charge for te edging fo driveways and sidewalks...... that is included in the mowing price......bed edging is extra.....:)
