I need to assemble a crew of two or three guys with experience to run the weekly lawn service this season. Is an ad in the classifieds going to do the trick? I so, any ideas on what exactly to post would be greatly appreciated. If not, what do I do?

The green is just around the corner.

I would suggest posting a help wanted sign at your local suppliers Lesco, Power equipment Store, Nurseries to try to find experienced help. Our major local paper in Dallas wanted an outrageous sum of money to run an employment ad. If you are going to use the paper i would run in your local small hometown paper to get help that is close to you.
