In our area you could probably start a guy around $8.50 and go to $9.50. The most important thing is having 40+ hours of work. They look at how much they take home each week.

Last year I started at $9.00 and ended the year at $10.50 here in Massachusetts. It is difficult to find anyone who will show up every day, work every day, and who you can trust, for less than $12.00 per hour. The problem is that local pricing cannot support wages at that level. As has been said many times here, it's not pricing, its expense control! If you can't do it, you will fail.
