Hello, I am new to the site but it has a great deal of excellent information. I was wondering if anyone has ever had to replace a cable on a ramp door spring assist? I bought a trailer with one side already attached with a cable, but can't figure out how to attach the other side. No matter what I try, I just can't get the tension right and the cable ends up unraveling off the spool. Any ideas???

My trailer only has one cable. It's a new Haulmark. Are you sure its supposed to have two?

Yes, it definitely has 2. There are spools on both sides of the spring to hold cable. It's an older (1998) Pace trailer, 16 x 8. It also has hooks for the cable on the door itself to attach to. Just can't figure out how to wind the cable and get the proper tension.

I brought mine to the dealer. I have a 7X16 and its a dangerous setup. Let the dealer do it. Its worth it. You can lose a hand trying it with the big spring
