Just a subject I'd thought I'd bring up.

I'm working with a landscaper and looked at a wall today that he was already building. It consists of 3 tiers, about 150 feet long, and a total final height of 10 ft dropping down to 4 at the end.

He had to get sealed prints for the the job, and the engineer is charging 1800 for the drawings. Does this sound steep?

We both thought so, as he usually charges in the neighborhood of 400 for most jobs we have done in the past.

We can't figure out why he is charging so much for this particular job.

Just seeing what others usually pay and what kind of walls that is for.

Any soils testing done? Whats behind or infront of the wall? Cost here range from $400 to $2500. Remember it's his E & O on the line!

Given the size of the wall, that doesn't sound unreasonable. The complicating factors haven't been mentioned here either. Also, did the engineer help obtain the building permit?
