A new gas station opened up by my house that offers ethanol free 87 gas for 15 cents more than 89 with ethanol. I know how bad ethanol is for lawn mowers and 2 stroke motors in my handhelds. I also know mowers and handhelds need 89 octane to prevent pre detonation on hot summer Ga days that I cut in.

So what should I use and which is better? Lower octane 87 without ethanol or stick with the higher octane 89 with 10% ethanol for my mowers and handhelds?

Lower octane without ethanol for sure. You can check AG commissioner sticker to validate.
I have a station in-town that sells ETHANOL-free across the board. 87,89,93 are all ethanol-free.
Costs more but worth it vs. having to use Premium for everything.
