I don't know how long a Armada has been in business but it' hasn't been a long time. In the time they have been building locators though, they seem to keep trying to improve the products that carry their brand.

I started with the pro 600 and then moved up to the 700. Both units were (in my opinion) a step ahead of the 521 that I started with. Then came the pro800 with peak and null reception another power level and the broadcast mode that I thought would be useless to me (boy was I wrong about that) until I found that I use broadcast as much or more than direct connect.

Here's a few pics of the old (first gen and the latest gen)

The 521 was the first irrigation specific locator on the market and I always include it as a worthwhile unit to own. But the 521 has evolved very slowly through a number of owners, while the folks at Armada seem to want to build the best and keep improving the finest locator on the planet to make it better.

Hmmm, looks like a nice unit. How's the case on that one?

Leary wants to see a model where the power dial goes to eleven.

The difference is night and day Sprinkus. The latches and spine are much stronger and cleaner. I don't know how well the locator works until I put batteries in it and I'm sure I'll pick up a couple sets of rechargeable D cells (I like the economy of the rechargeable battery) later this week.

After talking with Jim we tried out the Armada Pro 800 and now we own 4 of those units.

Armada Pro 800 is by far more superior than any others. We have not tried the 871 Hi-Power although....

Hi-Power not needed, Jim prefers some kind of basic "witching sticks".

But we all know yall's pockets.....Airstream Vacationing and what not.

So of course, Very curious to know how the 871 goes :)
and how do the witching sticks work?

Armada was started by the engineers that were let go the last time progressive was sold.. Basically it is the old progressive engineers freed up to make contractor suggested upgrades!!

Love my Armada locators (have an original 600 & an 800)
