I have a small dry stack wall to bid, and wasn't sure on hours for excavation. It is 108 linear feet, 1 foot wide, and needs to be 4" deep. The wall is for a raised planting bed on 18" tall. Anyone with hand excavating experience please help, I'm just shooting out guesses on how long it will take.

I would suggest using a rototiller to make a couple of passes and then digging it by hand the rest of the way. It should make it a lot easier. If you did it this way you are looking at 30 min. tiller time and 3 hours behind a shovel.

I have a brown bed edger with a drain pipe attachment that cuts roughly 4" x 4" trench, I will probably use this where I can.
