Need advice on what I need to be aware of when I go and see a 1996 Exmark with 25hp Kohler and 60" side shoot deck?, hours unknown. seems to have been on a private section all its life. Been told its done a days work on the newly recond engine, single owner (has all service papers since new) and is up to100%condition ... hmmm? that I doubt.
Ok so it's OLD but I need to know what to check and what are tell-tail signs to be aware of.
It seems to have been well looked after for its age.
Any professional wisdom advice and hind sight appreciated
    thanks

Hydro pumps must be strong. Drive the machine

Although there are things you can check the best bet might be to take it to an Exmark dealer and spend a few $ getting it checked out.

price doesnt mean much as it maybe hot or they maybe dreaming. anyway first time listings are usually way over priced, thats why I need help to determine if there could be a hidden problem I won't know to look for, thats why I am asking for tips on summarizing its condition on the spot. Plus theres nothing around here to judge it against (I've never seen one advertised b4 now) and the main mowers here are Walker.

Hydro pumps ! whats the first signs thats there a problem with these?

I have a IR temp gun to test left side with right side bearings etc, can the Hydro pumps be tested in this way.
testing it will be constrained to the terrain they live on. I doubt if they have a test track lawn like we have lol, I just hope it has a steep hill and a flat runway
Anyone got ideas of a test check list I can down load? that could be a help.

Hydro Pumps: take the machine up hills and listen for the hydros to whine more than usual. Make sure that one side is slower or faster than the other and make sure it is close to the manufactured top speed.
