I have a Mettro w/ 16hp Vangaurd B&S Its running ok w/ the choke pulled out (choke is closed) and when you push the choke in (to open it) the engine shuts off.
I took fuel line off the engine side of fuel filter and gas runs out freely so filter not plugged. What could it be? Actually the thing runs fine with choke pulled out but ofcourse this isn't correct.

My 22 kohler did that, and it was clogged jets in the carburator. As soon as you would take the choke off, it would kill.
