Just installed the Exmark Roller. Can someone tell me the best height for the roller? Should it make contact with the ground or be above it? Thanks for your help.

i think they need to be 1/4-1/2" off the ground.

I have the kit and you want it to be just above the ground level. Remeber that if you are using in very wet conditions to clean off the roller if not it can change the pitch of your deck.

how does it change the pitch? Is it because of the extra weight?

Mine is on a 60" deck and I find that 1/4 to 1/2" off the ground is not enough. It rolls the lawn like crazy, but it spends more time on the ground than in the air. The deck is constantly lifting on the chains and dropping. It becomes the biggest anti-scalp wheel you have, and it is always lifting the deck. The ground is just not even enough to have the roller that low.

Mine is set higher and it does a great job of striping.

Even an estimate on the height? Thanks.
