Expanding Business from VA to Maryland

    It seems the amount of licensing required for Maryland is rather confusing. We do landscape design and installation and it looks like we are required to have a Maryland Home Improvement License...which costs $$ and not only are you required to take a test, but they run your credit too...

    Does anyone know anything about this... I've been licensed in Virginia and thought I'd expand to Maryland because I am buying a house there.

    I cant remember now what it was called. I live near the border of Va and Nc, if I cross in to Nc then something changes with my Ins. and taxes. It might have been that I had to pay taxes in both states since I was working in one and living in the other. That was 10 years ago and it wasnt worth my time or trouble to cross the border. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this
