Does anyone buy there extension cord wire in bulk and put the ends on themselves? If so, where do you get it? I was going through last year's receipts and realize now how much we actually spent on ext. cords and timers.

For short runs, lower loads, use "zip cord" SPT2 16 gauge. Or even 18ga... You buy the "vampire plugs" that just basically clip on the end of the cord, the same as they do on C-7/C-9 stringers.

Nice thing is that you can buy brown/black/white and it will blend in with the house... You really don't *need* to use 3 wire grounded cords, as no lights are grounded. However, zip cord isn't rated "technically" for outdoor use. But what's the lights made out of?

For longer cords, just buy them pre made. Can also color match them, but you will have to keep various colors and lengths in stock all the time... Not sure where guys get theirs at for a decent price.
