The Tanaka TBC-260PFL is the only tall person trimmer on the market at this time.

That's what I was about to suggest. Up until recently there was a Tanaka forum under the Lawn Mowing Equipment Sponsor forum listing. There was a thread on there about how this trimmer was designed especially for tall guys -even had pictures of a guy about 6'6" using one without bending over.
For some reason the Tanaka forum has disappeared.
I bought a Tanaka EAS22SLP last year and you wouldn't believe how well that thing can cut fo having a 21cc motor. Good machines.

Will keep it in mind, I cant justify spending $500 on a trimmer just yet.

    Thanks

Im not sure its just tall guys. I am 5'11" and any time I have to trim more than 1 or 2 yards at a time my lower back gets sore. I am slightly hunched over with my two echo trimmers.

If they would change the angle of the trimmer head on the shaft, it would make it feel like it's a longer shaft. I think it has more to do with the trimmer head angle then anything.

Does anyone besides myself wonder why some astute manufacturer doesn't make an adjustable length trimmer? I'm no engineer, but, to me, it looks to be a relatively simple concept. Several trimmers utilize hollow shafts anyway, so why not a splined section that fits inside itself? All you would need on the outside is a telescoping shaft with a sleeve capable of being tightened to prevent slippage.

They could market two models, one capable of being shorter than those on the market now (my trimmers are too long for my wife), and the other capable of being extended several inches longer than the average length now. This would appeal to lots of people, even those with crews that have people of different stature working for them. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Black and Decker has a 36 volt rechargeable trimmer that has an adjustable shaft like that. I think it's a great idea for a gas trimmer. Can't be that hard to do and everyone could get a perfect fit.
