F250 shackles

    when replacing a ford 250 trucks rear spring bushings and shackles...how do you determine where the shackle is to be tighten again? Thank you stRip

    The nut on the shackle bolt should only go on just so far, there should be a metal bushing in the hole on the leaf. Then just tighten the piss out of it.

    If we were talking trailer leaf springs, they lack the bushing and you have to torque them down, then back them off some to allow the spring to travel.

    That is one thing I hate seeimg. Cheap spring sets with no bushings. They end up wearing out the springs, hangers, fulcrums, and the bolts that way. If the set of springs don't use a bushing, I won't buy them.
