Here a job I did on Monday and Straw on Tuesday morning
Here few more photos I forgot take pics after the straw was blowed
It was a new lawn and guy paid in cash
That is a big job. Nice work! Very neatly done. Do you spray to kill what was there or does your implement (I have forgotten what it is called but remember other posts about it) adequately destroy and incorporate it? What amount of spoils, if any, had to be removed from this job?
Its been sitting bare dirt all summer. I was going install it in April was to wet then when it did dry out We was burning up so wasn't a good time to do it.
Was just little grass up close to house that owner tried to seed this spring.
Turf Shaper is the implement you are talking about
We put half seed down with it and other half we broadcast it across
The area was 64,000 sf
So far Tuesday evening The lawn got 1/2 of rain and not sure what he got today
I got 2'' at my house This lawn is 35 miles NW of me out in the sticks
In 2weeks I'll do a re visit and apply slow release Fert I'll take pics of the stand of grass
Nice work! That turf shaper is a handy piece of equipment. It seems very similar to a Rotadairon but on a larger scale. What kind of seed did you put down? Looking forward to pics when it starts coming up.
Gets where I cant keep rebuilding the Turf Shaper The Rotadairon I'll own I demo one side x side my Turf Shaper there wasn't much difference
I put down a 5 blend Fine bladed Turf Fescue 10lb to 1k is the rate
I been using this mix since the 80s
Thanks I try my best
Yeah, that turf shaper is a lot like the turf revitalizer by rotadairon i used in the 80's. That thing was the heaviest 3 point implement i ever saw. It had a 4 ft. finished swath just like that, it just didn't have a seed box, but it was one of the best machine's for prepping hard ground i ever used, and in NC that ground is brick like red clay.
Yes its heavy If I remember right think its at 2k lbs .
I have 1k weights on front of the tractor and you can spin it around with the brakes without turning the front end.
This unit is 89 '' wide it working ground at 83'' wide.
Its made by Lely, They made one for the farm was 20ft wide but it didn't work well. You had to drive slow and have lots HP to run it. Most farmers would pull it to fast and rip the thing apart .
When I run mine I have to pull it in Low 1st any faster it doesn't do a good job
I can't imagine one of those 20' wide, that would take some serious horsepower. The one i used was all that little MF135 could handle.
My turf Shaper use to pull it with a MF165 gas but it like it gas to much
That 20' one guy owns says he use his 200hp tractor and he said you knew it was there
I gone farm sales that offer them and most time they are junk I buy them and get good parts off them scrap the rest
The guy owns the 20' one it looks very good. I told him I want first chance to buy it when he is ready to sale it
I don't have nothing pull it but I figure I would take it apart main is 10ft and 2 wings are 6ft I want the 10ft section I can pull it.
